Blog to Another Baby

Same song, second verse. My second pregnancy resulted in a boy. I still need somewhere to write, and this blog is for thoughts, feelings, and observations regarding DS2.

New cousin

DS2 has been unseated as the youngest member of our extended family. My niece was born yesterday at 11:47 am, and I got to be present. She is a cute little (7 pounds, 12 oz) darling with a head full of dark hair. Congratulations, sis!

No more cradle

We gave my sister the cradle Sunday. DS2 started out in the crib, but he woke up wanting to eat while we were getting DS1 ready for bed, so I took him to the living room to nurse, then I took him to my bed. Last night we didn't use the crib at all because of the timing with DS1. It is going to be a challenge to figure out what is going to work, especially since DS2 nurses 2-3 times during the night. I think starting him in the crib will work, but I am worried that when he wakes up DS1 may wake up also. We do need to get the baby monitor back out if DS2 is going to still be in the crib by the time we go to bed.

6 months old and lots of milestones

DS2 is 6 months old today. And this morning he finally rolled over all the way from his back to his tummy. He's been trying and getting part way over quite a bit lately. I actually missed seeing it happen because I was putting DS1's shoes on him

He also sat up alone for about 10 seconds earlier this week. We will be moving him from the infant car seat to a convertible car seat soon, probably this weekend. And some time in the next 2 weeks we are going to take down the cradle. He spends most of the night in bed with me anyway, but he will be starting out in the crib in the boys' room instead of in the cradle in our room.

These changes are because a new cousin is due in less than 2 weeks and she will be needing the infant car seat and the cradle. We share a lot of baby stuff in our family. The car seat was new for DS2, but we owe it to my sister because she loaned us theirs for DS1, then we had to replace it due to a car accident and we got a convertible one. DS1 is still using the convertible one, so we bought the infant seat for DS2. I think it is only fair to give it to my sister for her new baby. Besides, DS2 will need a bigger seat eventually. The cradle actually belongs to my brother, whose youngest child is about 8. It has had at least 9 babies use it now.
